General Carowinds discussion

This whole Carowinds vs. KD is getting ridiculous. Have you seen screamscape...he has posted a poll for the "Dueling Dales." I swear I know a lot of people have an axe to grind with Lance and I have never understood why....but I think I’m starting to figure it out

Where is there a rule saying two coasters can't be the same color in the same park..? Cedar Point has like 5 red coasters..

I think that is more by default than anything....Roy G Biv only has so much to offer  (sorry couldnt resist the 4th grade science class humor)

Just think of the possibilities if they left the pavement. They could turn it into a pedestrian area and paint it to look like a race track. They could put race cars on the track for photos and for kids to climb into and play. Along the outer wall they could put in a short wall with Charlotte, Daytona, Atlanta, and other speedways written along the course. They could sell ads and place billboards alone the way. Speaking of ads, this might be a good opportunity for Fair to make it's money back from this ride. They could place ads on the coaster, along the course, and in the station and the que area. I'm sure many Nascar sponsors will want to be associated with this ride.

Maybe they should put soft walls up around the helix incase a car flies off track!!!! I'd say it will probably be just grass. Less maintenance in long run. Just look at the pond under Nighthawk, it was beautiful at first but now it looks like a swine flu breeding ground....

Ok, I have given this coaster 24 hours to sink in and am now ready to give an opinion. This just might be the best B&M hyper ever. Why? B&M hypers are known for their excellent first drops, but with our coaster and it's twisting second drop, it will serve as a 1, 2 punch for the thrill seeker. Further more, due to the fact that the MCBR is basically at the end of the ride, the remaining hills and turn around should pack a wallop. The only element that might be a little muted is the final helix. I'm thinking this coaster will have a personality similar to that of Top Gun/After Burner; an out of control sensation that flies through the course but is a little muted at the end.

I have not purchased a season pass for the park since Borg because I've been upset about the direction the park was headed for the past few years; now with Intimidator, I'm ready to purchase the high dollar pass. I now wonder what is the best way to do this. In the past, if you purchased a next season pass at this point in the season, the park would let you use it for the remainder of this season to enter. Also if you purchased a ticket, they will give you credit if you purchased a season pass while at the park. These were offers you generally heard while at the park. I'm just wondering if they still have that offer? Is it better to buy now on line or pay to get in and get the credit on a pass while at the park? Anyone done this lately?

Im thinking that ours Very well could turn out to be the best hyper out of all. The Twisting second drop, The fact that the MCBR is later in the ride, and a 232 foot lift with a 211 foot drop at CAROWINDS !! I can't belive it. Im so excited. can't wait to ride it. For this one, I will diffently be at the park on media day.

What makes you so sure of that?

Did you notice the that all the hills where the grass is going go all the way down to the ground...

And yeah, they will make 23million back from ads alone...

I say keep the grass, throw in some spot lights, and call it a day!

We may have the next mind bender on our hands. Actually I was there a couple of weeks ago and the trains were plastered with advertisements for Schwarzkopf hair care products, which I found to be a huge paradox.

That article brings up something yet again that I'd like to discuss here.

Why is it that this ride has a 5mph window for speeds? I've seen 75-80 in multiple places, or "up to 80," which leads me to believe that the park really doesn't know.

While it's obvious to any person that the engineering isn't SO exact to produce an exact speed every single time with things like wind and weight affecting the ride, but isn't a 5mph window pretty excessive?

Maybe the speed on the lift is variable by a few mph depending on where the other train is currently out on the course??

I'm guessing it really has more to do with the park wishing to have the option to market this as an "80 mph" coaster when it really only probably goes 75-76.
