I'll agree with Jordan on this one.

Amazing ride... Unbelievable speed, relentless positive and negative g's. Easily the most intense coaster I've EVER ridden. And to be honest, the first few S turn transitions aren't that bad. I was getting serious ejector air so the neck chopping was kept to a minimum. Watching the first S turn from the station it seems so wrong though, it's just way to fast...

Now, the last S-turn... Wowza. That's the one that packs a punch, literally. I think I managed about 8 rides or so...

Final verdict = This coaster is to steel coasters what the Voyage is to wooden coasters. If you love Voyage, you'll like this. if you don't, well...

Also, nice to meet you yesterday Jordan. Sad that we were both at Carowinds media day and never met. It took another 5 hour drive to meet, lol!

And so was disney world (build in a swamp)...
Carowinds didnt build entirely in a swamp, mind you they took down an entire hill and a pond, leveled it out and on media day looked like the land was made exactly for the coaster.

KDCOASTERFAN wrote:^About the standing water, keep in mind that the region has seen a lot of snow & rain over the past couple of weeks & months so those are factors that aren't really within anyone's control.

oh please, carowinds had snow and rain also...when was the last time it snowed in va? The contractors should have factored all that in when setting up an action plan or a time line for getting things together. I agree there shouldnt be standing water or anything like that, it seems like instead of forcing the area to be better they are letting "nature take its course". Im glad carowinds planted sod and made an around the clock attempt to make the area welcoming to the riders on the first day, instead of what is going on at kings dominion!

While I too am interested in the question, it is not at all fair. I haven't been on I305 yet but just from looks I don't think 2 coasters could be more different. I was kind of down on 305 after seeing the renderings.. and then the trains.. but after the mostly positive reviews I have been more hopeful. Ultimately it will depend on what that particular person likes more.. if they like awesome airtime in complete comfort they will choose Intimidator, if they like extreme positive g's and sensation of speed they will go with I305.

Again I'm not sure what to make of this. Voyage is my favorite wooden coaster, but would I like a steel version of Voyage with OSTR's? If Voyage had OSTR's I don't think it would be anywhere near my top ten... :?

I'm so happy KD got this and we have ours. KD has the extreme ride, and if that's your cup of tea, I'm not mad at you. i'm going just for the experience as soon as the crowd dies a bit. But judging from some of the things folks are saying, this does not appear to be something I would want to ride often. Gray outs and head banging, no thanks. I don't even like the slight head bang Afterburner gives on the red train in the flat spin. Folks are so fast to criticize B&M but they know what they are doing in order produce the best ride experience. Intimidator is an engineering marvel most will enjoy, while 305 is an extreme machine for the thrillseeker. If I were building a theme park and had to buy one or the other for my park I would select 232.

Well so far I'm 0-2 in predicting wait times on these rides for opening day. Reports are that 305 has the shortest line in the park this afternoon, closely mimicking what we saw last weekend at Carowinds.

I realize I'm looking at this as an enthusiast who has ridden the good rides in my home park a ridiculous number of times already, but what is wrong with people? I get that some people are visiting for the first time due to the new big ride, and they want to see what else the park has to offer. I'd still have to think that the majority of the crowd is locals that have been to the park at least a few times in the past.

Both parks build huge rides, and people are waiting an hour for stuff they've done before, while the new rides have 15-20 minute waits. Some of that is probably due to the rides having good capacity, especially vs. some of the slow-loading rides they have elsewhere in both parks. Still, I'm surprised.

Now tomorrow might bring the insanity for both Intimidators crowd-wise, but who knows?

It is funny, but you have to remember that the hyper has three trains while other coasters in the park only have one or two. The hyper also is very quick with loading/unloading and has the best crew in the park working it. Due to the height and thrill of the ride, some people actually might be scared to go on it (sad...i know) while they don't have problems going on other coasters in the park. Oh and Nighthawk only had one train running on opening day last weekend which led to the long lines there.

Thanks to i305 I'm now again banned from the wonderful site of (yeah that site, and not the kdfan-site). Apparently some people seem to think both trains stickers and fronts are "very different" and when presented with a side by side comparison they commence with the throwing around of the slur "fan boy". I'm sorry I just can't drink the koolaid and just agree with everything a few "main" posters say!

I saw man and don't think you should have banned but that's just my opinion. I honestly don't see why so many people are getting worked up over some stickers on the side of a roller coaster. :? I thought the ride experience was the most important aspect of the ride. Going off some of the comments on TPR makes you think it isn't. People wanted theming from Cedar Fair than get upset when they give it to them. :| It sure is hard to please some people. I personally think the stickers look fine and the same on both rides. If people don't like them then they should just stay home and not ride at all if it upsets them that much.

^^ LMAO. I was over there and saw this "debate", then saw "Lord Voldemort" call you a fanboy. I'm sorry, but Alvey is one world class tool.

The funny thing is, Elissa said, and I quote - that EVERYTHING with those stickers looks cheap. Intimidator's trains, and the stock cars themselves. A week passes, and they're all of a sudden BEST THING EVAR when on 305's trains. I think the stock car theming does work a bit better overall with the shape of the Intamin trains vs. the B&M trains. However, the damn stickers are exactly the same. Jarvis did nothing but say exactly that, and he gets banned? WTF? Oh yeah, it's Alvey.

Crap like this also makes me call into question his review. Note that he was hired by KD to do video for the ride, but was not hired by Carowinds to do so. It's entirely possible he's going to go way over the top in praise of 305 due to this. And 98% of the sheeple on TPR will eat it up without question.

Remember, he complained Voyage was too much (and the sheeple followed), but when a steel coaster causes him to black out it's stupdendous! It's awesome! It's...it's...TWISTY!!!1!1!! God that was an embarrassment to watch.

Luckily, reviews from elsewhere are stating it's a very good ride, with some caveats about the restraints / roughness / intensity for some people, so we don't have to rely solely on his opinion. I wish more people who didn't have MF as their #1 previously would weigh in on it, though. I now have 2 steel coasters at Carowinds I like much better than MF, so for me it's not exactly the highest of bars.

.... and all that crap is the reason I only come to this site. 1. Jarvis did nothing wrong but point out the obvious... Common sense can only take a group of people so far....  And YES the cars are different.. Our Intimidator decals are BIGGER!!

2. Yes that video ridiculous to watch.. Well I'm not going there.. " ITS TWISTYYYYY"... ooooooh ahhhhh.. Sorry had to do that..

To each their own I guess... IMHO I think Carowinds got the better end of the deal, a more enjoyable ride. Our park is unique with a different clientele... A 300' monster (even tho cool) just would look out of place here..

Cant we all just get along.. Heck that answer is a resounding NO!!..
