General Carowinds discussion

As said before, these are for a project other than the coaster. I will reference my information pertaining to SkyFlyer and where it ended up being put and even the direction of flight. Everyone questioned it but... Not saying those won't be where they go but what's on those sets of plans aren't the right type for a coaster. We shall all see soon enough. I am enjoying guessing like everyone else and cant wait until its all revealed.

I agree, these are not the ride plans, nor are they the plans for the front entrance. Those other things will be bid out separately. This is for the road and toll plaza. Everything outside of that construction area are reference points only.
The only conclusion you can draw from what we have seen is that a tunnel and coaster will be near by. As far as we know, the coaster and tunnel could end up being closer to the the front gate. The exact location is of little concern to the people relocation the road.
My feeling is that the road and parking construction could occur during the season with little disruption to the park. The front entrance will happen during the off season. The coaster can start soon and much of it can be built before the park closes for the season. But the tunnel and front park portion is likely off season work. So until there is an announcement in the fall, we will be guessing for a few more months. Unless of course the plant in Ohio shows us something. Even then, we won't know the height and length. I remember when Intimidation 305 pieces started showing up at Dominion. Folks were looking at the pieces and guessing for months. Our situation was different because we knew what had been built previously at Island and Wonderland. But we did not know the height and length until announcement day. I'm afraid we are not going to get anything more to chew on until Aug, even if constructions starts next month. Exciting times!

OK, so I am bummed out that with so many Crayola Artists on this site no one has taken the time to overlay or draw in the new information over a satellite pic. So sad.

Seriously though, I am finally getting excited about Carowinds again. Whatever we get by whomever makes it I will be pleased.

I think I am more excited about the toll plaza than anything as, to me, it shows a future that has been thought out.

I'll do a drawing soon...

I can't upload my picture because it's a png file, not jpg. So, no pictures.

[EDIT] I will however say, that there is a large footer in the middle of the "immelman" . I don't think that this is an immelman though, the footer looks like the one used on the Intimidator turn around. That, and it looks a little wider than an immelmann, even if the ride is a wing coaster.

As always, I'll probably be wrong and you guys will start ganging up on me saying how stupid my idea is. So, take what I said with a grain of salt.

While I'm not going to say these plans are definite proof of anything other than where they're putting the new toll booths, what you're saying doesn't make a lot of sense.

If you're saying the footings aren't for the new ride (Because the new ride isn't coming out front, or whatever), then say that. You're saying these footings 'aren't the right type for a coaster'. There is nothing but a marker indicating what it represents on a piece of paper, so what you're saying doesn't make a lot of sense, as we don't know anything other than footings are proposed for that area.

If what you're saying is that these footers don't match up with the layout, then say that, don't say 'these aren't the right kind of footings/footers for a coaster'.

I do not know anything more than most on this board. I have not seen plans or know where said footers are going to go. It was a simple observation based on a review by someone who knows how to read those. No hidden meanings or messages. I was as excited as anyone when I sent those plans over. Then was told what I shared with all. The only factual for sure information I have at this time is boring and that is the all parts of the project have not been bid yet. That's it. Nothing spectacular or earth shattering.

Finally a decent comment from you tarheel. :)

For all we know, half the ride is in China already, and this stuff is just waiting to get shipped. I'm not too familiar with the project, but China is odd when it comes to this kind of stuff. "Opening 2014" could be anytime during 2014, not just the early part of the year.

It's just simply too much track to be anything Carowinds related. If it were coming here that means we would be seeing track in like a month or less. I find that improbable considering how little groundwork has been done to the go-kart area. Also the "shape" and "curve" of the track just screams to me flying coaster, and I don't think that's what Carowinds has up their sleeve.

yeah I'm not seeing B&M track being ready for carowinds any time soon. I am 99% sure that all the footers will need to be in place before any track is put into place. and judging by the plans footers, the work done to the toll plaza rd in that area etc will have to be complete before those footers can be put into place. And that most likely means closing the North gate.
