Im willing to bet money the coaster would be ready on opening day...why wouldn't it be?

I agree.

My best guess is because some people seem to think we are talking about the new giga at Six Flags Carolina...
Seriously, they have the rest of this month, then all of December, January, February, and a small chunk of March until Opening Day. That's plenty of time to complete construction. Cedar Fair knows this is arguably the most anticipated coaster of 2015 (disregarding what all the B&M-haters say) and they can/will be able to make the mark for Opening Day.

Boris wrote:Agreed, seems like constructions is painfully slow from the look of things. I guess at this pace it might take forever to complete the track.

It does seem like construction is going slow when you look at it on a day-to-day basis, but actually they've been moving very productively in all areas of construction.

I just think the only reason people are doubting if it opens with the park is that it has so-far been labeled as having a "Spring 2015" opening date. I'm pretty sure this was only said because they didn't want to assure the public of a specific day yet, only to potentially have something cause them to get off-schedule and not make that day. But that's just what I think.

Completely agreed! Good history of new coasters opening on Opening Day.

Where did you hear that? Historically opening day should be March 28 but I'm not sure if even the park knows for sure yet.

Either way I agree, barring something unexpected I think the coaster will be ready opening day.

Carowinds posted it in a comment on their FB page. :)

ETA- I was going to add a screen capture of the comment, but my phone and I are not getting along tonight. Anyway..:if you look at the comments for the Fury325 album, someone asked for opening day 2015 in a comment on Nov 11. They responded on Nov 13 saying opening day is March 28.

I think the only worry about Fury not being done by opening day, is the weather.

In any big construction project, there would have been multiple bids for the contract. And that contract will have deadlines, with contingencies if deadlines are not met (construction company will get paid less money). The construction company will do everything it can to be done by those deadlines.

But part of the contingencies will provide an "acts of God" clause... namely the weather, earthquake, etc. But the construction timeline certainly has some rain-day allowances (like last Monday) that they can take, and still be able to get it done on time. If they lose an entire week, due to the weather, then we might need to worry a bit. But for now, I think we should not be worried at all.

^^Which has happened before I'm sure.

EDIT:
Did anyone notice that the cross section of the lift hill support has been placed? I just noticed it.

Perhaps at Carowinds, but not always. Not all big coasters are ready for opening day. I don't think Gatekeeper and Banshee opened on opening day, but I could be mistaken. While I am excited for Fury to be finished, I don't mind waiting till May or June if I have to. This is a massive project, so it could take a while. But hopefully not that long. But no reason to be obsessed about opening day. It will open when it is ready. Just be glad it is coming to Carowinds and not way up in Ohio somewhere or down in Florida. Something this major will help put Carowinds on the map as a destination park, much more so than Intimidator. Which I also think is a great ride.

I took a peek at the webcam, just about sundown yesterday, to see what all they had got done. I saw the fork lifts bringing it to the crane area. A couple minutes later, I was really surprised to see them lifting it too. Somebody must have been tightening some bolts in the dark.

Both Banshee and Gatekeeper opened on their scheduled opening days minus the harsh Ohio winter they encountered. I am watching the construction progress all I can and follow all the forum comments coming in. I'm enjoying all the enthusiasm everyone brings to the table. I will see everyone in spring 2015!
