I went to Canada's Wonderland on a crowded Saturday and Leviathan was under an hour wait. The queue was filled but it moved extremely fast due to the high capacity of the ride. It has a pretty small queue area, though. The one for Fury looks to be a lot larger and I think that does have some effect on whether people will get into the line (if the line is coming out of the queue entrance I think that deters a lot of people).

So, to take that one step further, Carowinds experts! Of course, we all want to ride Fury 325 first thing for 2015. However, after that, will you recommend to others that they hit Fury 325 first if they are not buying a Fast Lane Plus or instead provide them the more common (yet lesser known) expert opinion that Nighthawk should be the first ride of the day due to load times? If your buddy is coming to town, has not been to Carowinds before, and will not be buying a Fast Lane Plus pass, what ride order will you be following to ensure he/she hits all of the rides?

I anticipate that crowds will dash to it first as that is what will greet them upon arrival. I look at fast lane plus to include it and for that area in general to increase with park guests!

About the long lines for Fury on opening day:

I finally got a look at this year's calendar. I see that Carowinds will be open for 16 straight days to start the season. I have the calendar from last year (but I don't know about previous years). But compared to last year, that is very different. It looks like they were open for only one whole week in April, that was probably the most common spring break week for school kids. Is that how they typically plan out their season schedule?

So this schedule with 16 straight days to open the season, is that unusual for Carowinds to start the season like that? Is that something they are doing help us all out to try to keep lines for Fury reasonable?

I don't care about a "first day" ride. I only care about "many dozens of rides without ridiculous lines". I am looking at the schedule and all I can say is: THANKS CAROWINDS!

Let me clarify this for you! And I think I can answer your question perfectly.
Carowinds most likely would want to say that the park is open for 2 weeks in April instead of the usual 1 because of FURY. But the truth is this (I think)...

Charlotte school system "usually" has their spring break on the opening week but due to CMS's spring break being April 6-10 it makes perfect sense for the park to stay open so they can draw in the kids that don't have school.

Thus, this is also good news for me as well. Since CMS usually had their break the first week of April and CA would only open for the first week and then close they have decided to just stay open the whole 2 weeks. My school system has always had their break on the 2nd week of April and CA would be closed by then because of CMS, so now CA will be open for my Spring break and I plan on spending almost everyday their on my break riding out on Fury 325.

Sorry if this was confusing... I tried to make it simple... If you are confused maybe someone can elaborate more.

Charlotte School systems have spring break the week after Easter (April 6th-10th). The school district in Rock Hill and most others in South Carolina have spring break the week BEFORE Easter (March 30th-April 3rd). There's your answer in a nutshell.

Mooresville City school are also the week before (March 30th), but the Iredell County school are the week after (April 6th)

I saw several SUVs just pull up. (They actually went under the track before that square piece with PLENTY of room so that puts THAT to rest.) Wonder if the dignitaries have begun to arrive?
