Yesterday, Camp Snoopy officially opened to the public.

Charlie Brown and the gang were on hand to lead the festivities.

Why are we here? For the flag raising.

Snoopy presents the flag.

The flag is up. Camp Snoopy is open!

The new camp look is well done.

Something is MIA. What is missing?

Welcome to Camp Snoopy

The fountain area is exceptional.

The rides look great. The whole area has had a face lift and it was done well.

Inside service, outside eating.

Wilderness Run looking sharp. Blends in well

Beagle Scout Acres

Before I continue with the photos, let me say that I had no idea how impressed I would be with Beagle Scout Acres. If I were a kid, I would love to hang out here. There is lots of shade, plenty of sun, and lots of fun activities to do.

If you can't find me, I may be here.

Camp Snoopy was a great move for Carowinds and was well executed.

The whole area looks great. As does Carousel Park. The light package on Do Si Do is nice and I’m glad the one on Electro Spin is mostly working now.

Now if they can just revitalize South Gate and get rid of the Art Deco in the main plaza we have a whole new park.

Whirlybirds is my new fave ride in Camp Snoopy next to Balloon Race and Peanut Pirates Lol. My friends and I just about spun are cup off the platform. Haha. My only suggestion is to add some type of traction to the wheel as your hands kind of slide when trying to spin the cup.

A couple observations after a few visits to Camp Snoopy

- The new rides are great and there is a good selection for little kids and medium kids in a small area.
- The overall look, theme, and condition of everything is very well executed.
- The playground is awesome, but is also a zoo. Kids just climbing all over each other, knocking down the little ones, etc.
- The addition of a drink refill kiosk will be great when it is open.
- I am confused by the lines and it appears Carowinds might be pleasantly surprised by the traffic. As an example Peanuts Pirates and the Balloon race have had their lines shortened significantly. For the Balloon race, the line was cut in half and now people just form a line out into the middle of the walkway. Most of the rides have pretty short lines and they have put crowd barriers out to extend the lines which eats up into the open space which was tough on the busier times I visited. Not sure I want to be anywhere near Planet Snoopy in the afternoons during weekend busy times unless they work on the people flow around these barriers.

I have been holding my criticism since Season Pass Night:

I think Camp Snoopy is a mixed bag of good and bad.

Good:
Adults are allowed on all new rides.
Mud Buggies is a lot of fun.
Teacups is a great addition!
Trailblazers is fun and forceful.
I love the fountain in former Carousel area.
Snoopy’s Junction is still running and even got new track.
No more Chopper Chase
New larger restrooms

Neutral:
Camp Bus is fun and brings back memories of Gauntlet but is tight.

Bad:
Lack of Beagle Scout Merch.
Kite Eating Tree, Camp Bus and Trailblazers are poorly placed in a tight area that gets busy easily.

Beagle Scout Acres makes the walkway between it and Taxi Jam too narrow.

It really think Carowinds poorly planned the layout of Camp Snoopy, the fountain would have been better placed between the Camp Store, Kiddyhawk and the restrooms.

Camp Bus and Trailblazers could have been placed back to back in the fountain area instead with Beagle Scouts Acres placed where Flyers was. Kite Eating Tree could have better a larger model(more capacity) and been placed where Chopper Chase was with more area for parents to get pictures. Teacups is fine but I agree Carowinds shorten Pirates line too much. Yacht Club’s space would have been my ideal location for Teacups.

After putting together the awesome areas of the County Fair and Carolina Harbor, I believe Carowinds dropped the ball with Camp Snoopy. Try again Carowinds cause I believe y’all can and should do better.

^ I agree there is a big lack of Camp merch. I also agree that Kite Eating Tree, Camp Bus and Trailblazers are tight. I’d probably only have two in that corner and placed the third elsewhere. Yes I too would have opted for the larger capacity frog hopper.

I do believe the lines que for Peanut Pirates, Whirlybirds and Balloon Race all need another look at. Carowinds is becoming a destination and small lines ques causeibg folks to spill out into the midways are not going to cut it and purchasing the lesser capacity versions of rides and water slides going forward.

I do not agree concerning the fountain. I love exactly where it is. It gives a sense of atmosphere where it’s located.

Carowinds, I guess, didn’t want Kiddy Hawk or Panda Express to be part of Camp Snoopy and left it in the generic area which is kind of weird as the restrooms and the Camp store are technically outside of Camp Snoopy. By doing this it does gives Camp Snoopy it’s own little nook with two entrances.

The area as a whole looks great. I’m sure it will look even better once the trees fill back in.

RANDOM OFF TOPIC : I really wish Carowinds would add at least another minute and half to Zephyr and Rock N Roller and the Grand Carousel. How is it Ballon Race, Scarmbler and Do Si Do have lengthy ride time when the rides in question are people eaters naturally?

Well they can call me up anytime they want and I will get on up out of my recliner and help them out for free. :sarcasm:

How everything was placed was almost perfect in Camp Snoopy. However they really need to get the rest of those que lines together before daily operation kicks in. Something permanent instead of those ugly barricades. It would have been nice if they added a ride between Windup and Snoopy's Junction since there is some space there. One of those Zamperla, "HAPPY SWING," rides would have fit in the area perfect with a nice theme. I would also be nice to see a backdrop behind whirlybirds or some small evergreen trees. But the park did an excellent job with this area.
