might be a stretch but the relation to morganton could just be the rebirth of that city. The first community was destroyed by Native Americans in 1758, but in 1766 General Zackquill Morgan founded a new settlement which was named after him.

^Maybe they are renaming Hurler 'White Lightning'. After you get off that ride it feels like you have a bad hangover. The say lightning never strikes twice...unless you drink too much of it and then yack your brains out.

My input on all this insanity is as follows.
They are renaming the Cyclone to White Lightning, and repainting it. The slogan 'lightning really does strike twice' applies to the 2 loops and 2 corkscrews.
They are building the Hyper and naming it the Intimidator, with a Nascar theme. That's where the tire marks and engine sounds come from.

^ That is the *ONLY* way I will ever get back on the Cyclone. Those seats on the Cobra are amazingly comfortable.

Well, I amend that. I'm sure I'll be riding it next year anyway when Allie is tall enough, because I'm the only moron in the family to allow her to sucker me into riding painful rides over and over so she can, too. :)

Heck, I've even got the people at work excited about the new coaster ... And some of them have never even *BEEN* to Carowinds, despite having lived here all their lives.

That's because that domain name is not registered. You could register it yourself if you wanted.

Also, the old ride was named white lightnin' not white lightning.

In case you are wondering, carowindswhitelightnin.com is not registered either.

With carolina cobra they used carolinacobra.carowinds.com (and still do)

intimidator.carowinds.com, theintimidator.carowinds.com and whitelightnin.carowinds.com all immediately return not found messages.

HOWEVER, whitelightning.carowinds.com waits for several seconds and then returns a timeout message.

Interesting.

I didn't see anything except an extended construction entrance, which I didn't really notice at Coaster Stock (but it was dark when I was riding AB).

I'm back from the park and have pictures of the mysterious steel box uploading right now and will post them soon.

Just got back from the park, well I can tell you, the park is full today. Night hawks line was full back to the entrance. hehe needless to say, I didnt stay, looks like field trips etc. You really dont know how big this coaster is going to be until you walk the entire fence, which I did. They are still drilling holes down by south gate. I saw the mystery crate as well. It deffinately makes nascar engine noises.

But I just don't see that happening right after they painted Nighthawk WVU's colors.

As a Marshall University grad, I would absolutley gouge my eyes out if it was WVU colors!

OK here we go...

Image
This date seems to be important. It's showing up everywhere.

Image
Me thinks this view is going to be much more vertical next year.

Image
Jarvis left us something at Coaster Stock!

Image
Closer still. No, 12 coasters isn't enough! It says something like "200 lbs" on there. So I'm guessing either a 200ft drop or lift. Let's hope for 230ft lift and 200ft drop.

Image
The side has writing...lets look closer.

Image
White Lightning Strikes Back!

Image
I have no idea what this means.

Image
These banners have shown up on Fence: The Ride.

Image
Work continues.

Image
I'd think that track will be here before the announcement with the progress they are making.

Image
A bigger view.

Image
Even bigger.

And that's about it. The park seems to be doing very well this year. It was just opening, and the parking lot was already about 1/4 to 1/2 full.

It looks like it says 3891200 lbs. Could be 3891 ft. long and 200 ft. high, but that seems rather short. Goliath at SFOG is 4480 ft. long. Even so, I think that number could mean something, because that would translate to 1950 tons which no container would weigh. Why put that on their? Maybe just to confuse us?
